An active construction site is one of the most exposed properties in any city. Materials sit in the open. Equipment is expensive, portable, and easy to resell. Access points change week to week as the build progresses. And for most of the day, nobody is there.
Security Now USA provides licensed construction site security across Columbus and Central Ohio, built around how construction sites actually work rather than a generic patrol template.
What Makes Construction Sites Different
Most security plans assume a building with fixed doors, fixed hours, and a stable perimeter. A construction site has none of that.
The perimeter moves. Fencing that made sense during excavation is wrong once framing starts. A security plan written at groundbreaking is usually obsolete by the time the structure is enclosed.
The valuable items change. Early on the target is copper, fuel, and heavy equipment. Later it is appliances, fixtures, HVAC units, and wire. What you are protecting in month two is not what you are protecting in month eight.
Legitimate traffic is constant and unfamiliar. Subcontractors, deliveries, and inspectors come and go, often people your crew has never met. That churn is exactly what makes unauthorized access easy to miss.
Downtime is expensive in a way theft alone does not capture. A stolen compressor costs what it costs. The two days your crew loses waiting on a replacement costs considerably more, and that number rarely shows up in the incident report.
What We Provide
- Overnight and weekend coverage. The hours when your site is empty are the hours that matter. We build coverage around your actual schedule rather than selling a fixed block that may not fit.
- Access control during active hours. Officers can verify and log who enters, which subcontractor they are with, and when they leave. On a busy site that record becomes valuable the moment something goes missing.
- Documented patrols. Officers walk the site on varied routes rather than a predictable loop. Patrols are logged, so you have a record of what was checked and when.
- GPS-tracked officers. Every shift is tracked, so patrol coverage is recorded rather than assumed. You receive the documentation, not just our word for it.
- Incident documentation. Written reports with times and specifics, delivered promptly. If you need to file an insurance claim or a police report, the documentation is already in a usable form.
- Equipment and material checks. Officers can be briefed on what is on site and where, so an absence gets noticed the same night rather than the next morning.
Coverage That Changes With the Build
We would rather revisit the plan at phase changes than sell you one arrangement for the life of the project. A site that needs two officers during the framing stage may need one once it is enclosed and lockable. A site with three open access points needs different coverage than the same site with one gated entrance.
That means periodic conversations about what has changed on site. It also means we will tell you when coverage can be reduced, which is not something every provider volunteers.
Verify Any Provider Before You Sign
Ohio requires private security providers to hold a state license through the Private Investigator and Security Guard Services program. Before you hire anyone for a construction site, ask for the license number and confirm the license type covers guard services.
Security Now USA operates under Ohio PISGS Class A License #201221002069, and we are bonded and insured.
One question worth asking specifically on construction work: are the officers employees or subcontractors? Ohio requires providers to register their security employees with PISGS, and a provider using independent contractors is in different regulatory territory. Our officers are registered employees.
Our guide to what Ohio law requires when you hire security guards covers the full verification process.
Serving Columbus and Central Ohio
We cover construction sites throughout the Columbus metro, including commercial builds, multi-family residential, and infrastructure projects. If you are managing a project outside the immediate metro, call and ask. We would rather tell you honestly whether we can cover it well than stretch to reach a site we cannot serve properly.
For general guard services beyond construction, see our Columbus security guard services page.
